September always feels like a season of waiting. Out in the fields, our corn and soybeans are almost ready, but harvest is still a week or so away. It’s that in-between space where the long days of summer start to slip into cooler mornings, and we find ourselves both eager for what’s ahead and grateful for what’s right now.
This pause before harvest is a reminder to notice the small things—the crunch of leaves underfoot, the golden sunsets that come a little earlier each evening, and the way the air carries just a hint of crispness.
It’s also a season that calls us to community. While we wait for the combines to roll, we love to support local pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and cranberry festivals. These places bring families together, connect us to the land in a different way, and remind us that harvest is more than just what happens in our own fields—it’s a celebration of all the ways fall abundance shows up.
So here’s to September: the quiet before the busy, the beauty of transition, and the simple joy of showing up for the people and places that make this season special.
